So I decided I was going to just bury my face in TSW for the night so I can stop thinking about the whole Smashwords thing, and happened to notice that Steam is having its Halloween sale now – which means the ultimate edition of The Secret World is on sale for like.. $18. ((normally all the content it includes adds up to $162+)).
Just thought I’d throw that out there since @coldsaturn and @aionwatha and I have kicked it around a bit recently. If you do check it out–whether you get it or just go through the trial period, please run it through Can You Play It? first, because my last system struggled with the graphics. ((it was also an old piece of junk, mind))
vague update time:
The Smashwords thing is a little more complicated than I want it to be, and I get to spend this weekend searching for & contacting people to try and get it resolved. Since Smashwords was the main distributor to non-Amazon networks eg the Apple iBooks store, some of ya’ll have noticed that book 1 has vanished pretty much across the board. Exciting. ((she says in sarcasm font)) Thanks for your continued patience. ;_;
ngl, this was a jarring end to a week that had some potentially exciting things happening. Leave us some good news if you’ve got cool things going on with you & yours– we could use a bit of pick-me-up to get through the weekend <33
So yeah, I just wanted to put this here now that my phone case from redbubble arrived, too. I don’t take this fangirl thing lightly. ^^’ Right after I finished All for the game in May, I felt like I wouldn’t mind having a tattoo of it on me forever. But as I’m the type who tends to agonise about tattoos for a long time, I told myself, don’t be so freaking impulsive for once, and at least wait a few months. If the love for these books sticks, then get a tattoo. Well, as it only grew stronger with the months passing, I actually went for it. This tattoo will represent second chances and surviving for me forever. Thank you @korakos for writing this amazing series, and making my life better with it. ❤️
“You are a Fox.” Now forever~
I know I’ve dropped this on you guys before but here it is again for REASONS @coldsaturn
Q
Anonymous asked:
Hum what is the secret world ??
A
I…I honestly feel like I’m not the right person to answer this question because I legit have only 20 hours of game on me, against the 1559 someone else who I won’t name ( @korakos) does, but hey, you know what, let this newbie tell you what the secret world is.
- it’s an mmorpg
- h.p. lovecraft, indiana jones, stephen king are some of the main inspirations
- afilthyfog covered everything, and it brought zombies and demons and nightmares and whatever else from the folklore of all over the world are now walking on earth
- survivors are coping as they can
- some better than others
- you are “some”
- for reasons still unknown to me there are people who unintentionally swallowed bees and now they have powers and visions and all the fun stuff
- you can make your character choose between three factions: illuminati (they have money and power and they like to fuck shit up?), templars (I have a bad relationship with templars ever since assassin’s creed, especially because they still are the same thing; ideology and purging but also a lot of old connections and power etc), dragon (chill dudes who claim they can control the domino effect, their hobby is watching templars and illuminati trying to kill each other)
- forget about games where you start weak and hopeless unless you grind for 38493 hours. here it’s all about having abilities that work well together
- I won’t delve deep into the mechanics of the game because this was just your “what is it” ask, but let me tell you even though the combat system is pretty simple and repetitive, you will have fun finding your best combinations of active and passive skills (you have more than 500 to choose from, and you can unlock all of them), and you still will find your challenges
- damn this game is so plastic, like you want to go hammer and chaos magic? you do you pal. what about shotgun and blade? sure? and blade and fists? whatever floats your boat mate.
- dont’ worry about getting bored of your choice though because you can learn the ability of ANY OTHER WEAPON bless
- YOU CAN RUN SOLO
- LET ME REPEAT YOU CAN RUN SOLO *weeps tears of joy
- the NPCs are so interesting??? and round??? and the plot promises so many mysteries and surprises and asdfghjkl I want to know what the hell is going on
- have I already told you that the subscription is optional? means that once you buy the basic game (30 dollars) you’re done, you don’t have to add a cent unless you want
- it has quotes like “I’ve tried prayer, I’ve tried my .44, but Satan’s wearing kevlar and bible-thumping just pisses them off”
- also one of the mission givers at the beginning of the game managed to survive the suicide call when the fog came because she was in the middle of a bondage session and she was physically unable to follow everyone else and drown in the sea
- it’s basically a creepily fun game, with creepy and awesome atmosphere, voice acting for all the main missions, so much plot!, what is sexual orientation when there’s zombies everywhere and that’s the only other alive human you’ve seen in weeks, witty and hilarious dialogues (bless the writers), AN AWESOME COMMUNITY
- like I only know of one person who plays it as of now, but literally every single review I’ve read around talks about what an awesome community tsw has, full of people always ready to help and support and basically they’re all precious
- RP. SO MUCH RP EITHER IN-GAME OR OUT THIS GAME JUST SCREAMS AT YOU TO MAKE OCs AND DROP THEM IN
- andy. we need more andy.goddamit this guy cracks me up
aaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA TSW IS MY LIFE, YA’LL DON’T EVEN UNDERSTAND
A collection of random things:
1. Got stung by a bee on the train yesterday. Found him in my hair and he jabbed my finger before I realized what I was holding. Turns out I am not allergic to bee stings, hurray!
2. Kindle TFC temporarily has a price tag on it because there’s apparently an issue between me and “the original copyright owner”. Smashwords took it down until I have a conversation with – myself, I guess? – and that was what triggered the price-match free version on Amazon. Trying to get that sorted out asap. Sorry lovies.
3. Speaking of TFC, the older sister just read the series for the first time since its comic days. Victory :O
4. Made the decision to step down and transition to part-time at work. It’s gonna be touch and go, but it’ll carve out more hours to write. I think I’m finally ready again, so I wanna seize that energy while I can. Almost optimistic enough to think I can have minimum two separate projects done by year-end, but we shall see. ((granted, two of the hopeful three are rewrites, not new things.)) Schedule should change effective Halloween, still gotta nail down details though.
What is new with you?? :O
I’m not sure if it’s okay to do this but imma tentatively guess yes since someone else recently asked about Aaron. @korakos there’s a part in The Raven King that has always nagged at me. After Neil hits Riko, Riko says “You just cost him something he didn’t want to lose.” I’ve heard the interpretation that Riko means Proust crossing the line and hurting Andrew, but it hasn’t sat right with me. Because in The Kings Men when Andrew comes back, he asks why Neil went to Evermore, and covers Neil’s mouth when he mentions Proust, and Neil realizes he failed. So if it wasn’t until that moment that Neil realized Proust did the thing, I feel like maybe Riko is talking about something or even someone else here. Is it Andrew or Kevin that are losing something? If it is Andrew, what is it that he didn’t want to lose that Riko knew about?
Hello lovie :D
Sorry it was unclear!! You are right about what they’re referencing, though – Riko says Proust will hurt Andrew if Neil doesn’t come to Evermore, and Neil responds by punching Riko in his fucking face. Riko’s You just cost him was a “You fucked up by refusing me, now it’s going to get awful for Andrew.” Neil assumed that when he said “I understand” and Riko said “Apology accepted” and Neil went to Evermore after all, that Riko would keep his word and Proust would stand down. But in the end Neil did exactly what Riko told him to do–and Proust went after Andrew anyway.

in case you haven’t noticed by the prolonged silence, attempting to write 5 projects at once is not going well
I think I am going to participate in NaNo this year, though, in part to meet people in my new city and in part to try and Get Shit Done
“Is that a genuine inquiry or ill-veiled sarcasm, my lord?”
Ty refrained from rolling his eyes, but barely. “Consider it a question.”
“They burned our priests and enslaved our children,” Kelsha said. “We are no longer people of the mountain; we are people of shackles and dirt. The sky is as foreign to us as the sea when we know it only in fading songs and memories.”
Hello, @korakos ! I’ve been scrolling down your blog and I found out that you like Aaron better then Nicky, Renee and Allison. Can I ask you what traits make him so likeable? + I don’t know if you’ve ever done that (you probably did and was asked about it like a thousand times) but who is in your top 5 favourite characters from AFTG?
I probably have answered the Top 5 before, but it is a shuffling list. There have been too many drafts and too many years for it to be a static thing; their evolving stories & my aging have given me different insights and appreciations for them. The only character with a noticeable growing apathy is Abby, and that’s mostly my fault, since I axed most of her storyline.
The current top five of the Foxes are Neil, Andrew, Kevin, Dan, and Matt. Aaron is six of ten nine. I love Wymack but I also don’t believe in Healthy Father Figures so he will never make the cut as a reliable believable character.
AARON, my beloved little shithead.
Am assuming if ya’ll are here ya’ll’ve read the books but this is rambling & spoiler-ridden so it is going behind a cut. Sorry mobile users, the year trucks on and Nora is still hella obsessed with Read-Mores. Also assume there will be typos and odd grammar because a) me + proper english = notp, and b) vodka.
So the original plan was to take like 3 days off from tumblr, but apparently I was gone for 3 weeks?? Glad to see I still have no concept of time. The zoning-out thing is getting real old real quick, but I think enough RL things are falling into place that I’ll have anchors again. <3

@korakos This book meant so much to me and I’m happy to always keep a part of it with me.
me: i feel awful in so many different ways. I have no idea how I’m supposed to cope and process everything that’s happening.
me: turns to my ocs
my ocs: sweats
me: jaws theme

@winterblues Late response, sorry!! Best bet is probably to @ me if you post it, I try to come back to tumblr every couple of days and check for those. :D
