So before Tumblr showed up on my doorstep there was just Twitter ((back when it wasn’t a locked, controlled mess, anyway)), and back then there was a lovely lady named Judith who I was pretty sure was the only person outside of my beta readers who’d actually read The Foxhole Court and given it a chance. She’s since started a small press of her own, which is very exciting, and she invited me to rambleabout Elysium for 500 words or less. So I did very vaguely. I feel like ya’ll’ve heard most of this before, but if anyone is bored you can find it over here.

*How to Harass Women Who Don’t Want to Be Approached
“Allowing her to take control of the interaction” is a don’t. That’s the scariest part. They’re teaching men that women having any control or freedom in that situation is a bad thing. And that’s disturbing.
I’ve had men snatch headphones off my head when I wouldn’t respond to them. I stopped wearing headphones a long time ago.
There could be a change petition with 50 million signatures from women to stop men from talking to us when we wear headphones and they’d still be like “yeah but SOME women like it!!!”.

Also just to drive it home, this is why I’m so fucking fed up with those “appropriate ways to harass a woman on the street” posts, it’s no fucking different. LEAVE US OLONE

@andrewsmolyard The first time you move out it’s definitely an eye opener! There’s a lot of stuff we either just take for granted or don’t really notice when we’re home. Hopefully there are some good “start of the school year” sales going on! Good luck with the big transition :D :D
no but really the phrase “money doesn’t buy happiness” was meant as a “hey don’t make money be the sole purpose of your life go out there and find your passion” but this was also before minimum wage was a joke and everybody was anvil-ed with debt (wile e coyote style) and people had the luxury of pursuing the things they love instead of choosing to be greedy and seeking out cash
but now we’re all working two jobs to earn the income one should provide and checking our bank accounts like the countdown on a ticking bomb and meanwhile we haven’t bought a new shirt in six months, all of our meals consist of bread and cheese, and vacations and benefits have become a fable–just some urban legend that may have existed at some point but has since dissolved into fiction
for so many of us, money has become the hellfire center of our lives and it’s not that we’re seeking money to be greedy or that we think it’ll complete us. we’re just trying to survive in a society that has set us up to fail.
besides, even if money could buy happiness we wouldn’t be able to afford it.
me in the middle of the night feeling suddenly productive: tomorrow is the day i start getting my life together!! :) i’m going to make a list of everything i need to get done, which includes exercising, drinking water, and getting ahead on my school work!! i’m going to be a great person and finally feel happy once i get this routine down!! :))

that’s a good explanation! i was always confused by the size of the bus. at first i imagined a normal bus like this but then in one of the books it says there’re only…. eight rows if i’m not mistaken?
i imagined a bus kind of like the one you linked but only on one side and slightly shorter? maybe slight wider seats as well since it fits if it’s only on one side
