“Betty says go to hell,” I tell her in lieu of hello.
“Vicereine Alexandra,” Casper corrects me, a little dreamily.
I frown at her. “How do you know she has a title?”
Casper’s look is pitying. “It’s how she answers her phone. What’s the point of being a ghost if you can’t spy on people? Rude,” she says, sliding through the door I just tried to close between us. “The yard is still on fire, if you were wondering.”
“I wasn’t wondering.”

@korakos I saw your post about someone suggesting fan translations but you preferred professional ones for your books. Considering how I am studying translation and in the order to receive a university certificate in that field, I would feel glad to oblige. Also, I have friends who already have obtained their bachelor degree in translation, so I could see who got a specialization in literature. It’d only be for English to French but that’s a start and it never takes long until it gets known and people want to participate.
Thank you for your interest! I really appreciate it. But until I am in a position to properly compensate people for their work, I’m unwilling to commit to anything one way or another. I’ll keep you all posted, promise. <3

Would you approve of fan translations? I’ve seen it done more than once, we split the chapters and each person translates one or two. It’s harder to organise than to do, so you shouldn’t worry like with audiobooks
Sounds like a smart way to break up a time-consuming project, but when the time comes I’d like to go with professional translators. Nothing against fan translations! But for a while that was my dream career, so I want to support the industry, and I want to be able to pay for the time & effort it’s going to take to get the books out of English. I’ve done some off & on research into it, but everything got put on hold so I could afford this move cross-country. Between now and then, I just need to collect a to-do list of target languages.

1. Going from 93 degrees to 53 degrees is absolutely amazing. Am curled up with Ancient!Laptop near the patio door and my fingernails are purple. In the middle of June. Whaaat.
2. Aside from our initial contact with them, working with UHaul has been an absolute nightmare. I don’t think I’m exaggerating to say we’ve talked to 20+ reps in the last couple weeks. Can’t wait to get our things & be done with them, tbh.
3. Ami’s cat has spent the last few weeks hating our guts as we take her world apart around her. We had to sedate her for the flight to keep her from panicking, but those drugs were a lot stronger than we expected. We checked on her once it was wheels up and she was so cool and still my heart stopped. She has since forgiven us for the move, but we haven’t stopped hovering.
WE HAVE ARRIVED.
((Technically we arrived yesterday, but our internet installation package showed up today.))
At some point this week I will attempt to play catch-up on Tumblr, if this computer will allow it. This thing is almost 8 years old and, since it struggles to power on, I try not to use it unless things are desperate, ha. My real computer will show up next Tues or Wed along with the rest of our things. :D
I think a couple people from tumblr have made it over to twitter? tbh there is not much to see there, I am not going to update the “official” acct anytime soon and I am stupidly protective of the other one. 5 days left in NC and still have half the apartment to pack, nbd aaaaaaa
Going to take apart my desk tomorrow, which means packing up my computer, & since I took tumblr off my phone that means I’m going to be somewhat MIA until June… 20th? I think that’s when our boxes will arrive. I have an ancient laptop around here somewhere, so if I can find the power cord in this wreckage I can at least hijack some wifi between now and then.
I’ve said it before but I really can’t say it enough:: thank you, all of you. How the hell did we go from a half-abandoned story to—this? I do not understand, I do understand, it is because of you, and I– sometimes all I can do is just sit here and go wow, wow, wow to myself. You are all so amazing ;__; <3
