Andrew had a lot of time on his hands during juvie, so he worked through most of it then. That was the first time in his life he wasn’t with a foster family, and although the correctional guards weren’t exactly friendly, they weren’t abusive, either ((Thanks, Pig Higgins, for finding him a good facility!!). Andrew had the breathing room to face his issues, and to accept what was & wasn’t there in the absence of intrusive hands. Juvie was where he kissed someone for the first time by choice, though Roland was where Andrew did most of his one-sided experimenting.
