does kevin suffer from stockholm syndrome?

A

It’s a safe bet to say he does, but I hesitate to say “Yes” outright because I don’t know if I wrote a Kevin that properly backs up that assertion. So much got cut and tweaked over the years that I feel like he’s been smoothed out, and the strongest evidence of that particular issue – Kevin & Andrew’s turbulent relationship** – got erased. So yes, Kevin should have SS, but I probably failed to portray it and the consequences as well as I should have. Kevin might hate Riko but he’s never going to get over him, and he is going to need time to come to terms with Riko’s death.

** Andrew and Kevin used to fight a lot more, because Kevin was prone to treating Andrew like he was another Riko – Andrew knew it was because of Exy and more because of his unpredictable violence, but that couldn’t stop him from lashing out when Kevin confused the two of them. Any time Kevin flinched away from him or dropped his gaze and went quiet, Andrew went off.

((Andrew didn’t necessarily blame Kevin for reacting to Andrew the way he did, because as far as he was concerned he and Riko were both monsters, but he found it more than a little irritating that Kevin had traded one master for another instead of finding his own freedom. It wasn’t until Riko and Andrew went toe-to-toe that Andrew could look at Neil and say with 100% certainty I am nothing like him))
