@korakos
This pretty much sums up my day!! I joined gywo so I’m working on writing 450 words today and listening to classical music with my smol rat son. As soon as my awful cold is over with I’m starting practice on audiobook recording.
I’m so impressed by people who can learn languages, especially self taught. I know some asl and i know braille up to level two, but i am the Worst at learning things like that.
!! A rat! Is it true they are as smart as people say? My sisters had some pet rats for a while but that was after I was out of the house, so I never really got to see them interact. HELLO RAT SON.
ASL! Brilliant :O Such a useful thing to know – such an unexpected yes I can communicate with you, I’m here. You saw the video of the mall Santa & the little girl speaking ASL? and/or the Disney princesses using ASL for a child’s first visit? ((Maybe I saw them on your tumblr, it’s so hard to keep sources straight)). Amazing. One day I’d like to study it.
We have some braille Starbucks cards at work – a customer and I were just talking about how fascinating it was, and how impressive that people could learn it. Nicely done!
Good luck with the writing! Go go go go go
Yes, absolutely!! I haven’t trained my rats at all but the one I just lost on Christmas, Zaebos, was the most resourceful little shit. This one, Kronos, is a little bit of a beepis but he’s one of the sweetest pets I’ve ever had. We had his cage by our bed for a long time and he’d sleep as close to us as he could get and he likes to hold our fingers or hair while he sleeps. I like pets that run toward you when they’re upset or scared rather than constantly trying to run away, and that’s how my ratties have been. Once, a child I live with let Zaebos loose while I was sleeping and I woke up with him cuddling me. He could have easily gotten out as I lived in the garage, but he just wanted snuggles.
I learned it for that reason! I learned Braille first because I was working with an elderly blind woman. She informed me that less than ten percent of the blind people in America know Braille because it’s been made so inaccessible, so I volunteered with The National Federation of the Blind for a while while I was in my sophomore and junior years of high school. There’s a lot of interesting tools and advancements going on that a lot of ppl aren’t aware of, and it’s cool getting to help people in any way possible. Braille is really really easy to learn if you’re able to see it, at least up to the second level. Then there’s just a lot to memorize and a lot of context to understand.
I did see!! I love videos like that!! My best friend is training to be an interpreter so i see a lot of stuff like that and keep tabs on it. It’s awesome being able to do that for someone, especially at work as a retail person.
Ack, sorry about Zaebos. Trying to imagine rats being cuddly but can’t quite picture it! Brain keeps substituting needy little kittens instead.
That’s pretty cool! I wouldn’t have even thought such organizations were available for ..internships((?)). Keep up the great work! :D
