I cannot sleep because my home state of North Carolina passed a sweepingly broad anti-trans/transmisogynistic piece of legislation today intent on killing more trans people and pitting oppressed people and workers against each other.

I am full of rage that HB 2 passed in less than 12 hours. today we sat in the hearings and debates on this bill listening to white supremacist, transmisogynistic white people tell trans people that we are predators, that we are inhuman, that we cannot be survivors ourselves. we swallowed tears and rage as politicians played with the lives of queer and trans people of color. HB 2 is not just about peeing, it’s about making sure that trans people, specifically trans women, working class people, youth of color, and all oppressed people know our place. it’s about making sure that we know how clearly they want us dead by denying us public accommodations, any sort of legal protection on the job, a living wage.

North Carolina Black Lives Matter QTPOC coalition has called for a demo at 5:45pm at the governor’s mansion (200 N. Blount St, Raleigh, NC). be there because we are shutting this shit down.
