I’m not generally comfortable digging up old drafts for several reasons ((which surprisingly don’t include how poor the characterizations were or how awful the narrative was))— I don’t mind talking about the changes and referring to things that used to be, but digging through deleted scenes themselves is always hit & miss. It took me so long to be happy with the story that I try not to upset that mental peace, y’know? But I’m halfway through a second bottle of wine and this’ll distract me from throwing my external harddrive out the bedroom window.
Imagine the obligatory disclaimers/warnings: skewed characterizations, terrible editing, non-canon interactions, etc etc etc. These scenes are from 5~6 years ago, so they’re a bit rough. o___O

Re-watched Pacific Rim tonight and was reminded of an old conversation I had with a very tolerant friend. So, for your amusement: the ideal drift-compatibility of the Foxes by order of jersey number. Most are probably obvious outcomes – some likely aren’t.
1. Dan with Matt
2. Kevin with Neil
3. Andrew with Renee or Neil
4. Matt with Dan or Aaron
5. Aaron with Matt or Seth
6. Seth with Aaron
7. Allison with Nicky
8. Nicky with Allison
9. Renee with Andrew
10. Neil with Kevin or Andrew
The most efficient combination in a battle where five jaegers are required: Dan & Matt, Kevin & Neil, Andrew & Renee, Aaron & Seth, Allison & Nicky
((Andrew/Renee & Kevin/Neil pairs would have a quiet but intense af competition in regard to kills. Everyone else would [hopefully] be smart enough to stay out of the way))
** Neil & Renee are technically compatible, except Neil’s anxiety regarding Renee would throw them out of sync when trying a neural handshake **
