New month! New week! Fresh start! What are we gonna do, lovies? We got goals? Got plans? Remember how short my update was last week? This week it’s even shorter because I have been doing exactly one thing this past week: playing The Secret World. It’s Golden Week in-game, so there are nonstop world bosses and double AP boosts, so I’ve been running my secondary toon into the ground trying to get her fully leveled. Whoops.

This is what a responsible adult looks like, ya’ll. I guess life’ll return to normal after the event ends tomorrow.

My Monday has pretty much consisted of cleaning my house since me and my flat mate kinda neglected it for the last week and a bit ‘cause we had the final shows of our last module.. All good but glad its over. And then I’ve been reading Ready Player One (finished it earlier today) and doing lots of Foxes admin with Etra..

Sleep is for suckers phase seems to be a theme atm but I’ve been fluctuating between that and passing out at like 9pm..

I think I started Ready Player One years ago but couldn’t finish it – what did you think of it? House cleaning is such a necessary evil, I hate it, bahhh. “Final shows”? Also yikes! Passing out at 9 = yay sleep! but it feels like you lose so much evening that way, yeah?

Time flies when you’re going out of your mind!

I don’t have much to say this week, so I hope you guys have plenty to make up for it. A coworker has managed to get me sick, which is always fun, but I’m also currently neck-deep in a “sleep is for suckers” phase. I swear this happens every other week or so, where I either can’t sleep for more than an hour at a time or I have fun nights like Saturday where I slept an hour, was up for three, and managed another half-hour before I had to be up for work. Fun times were had by all! So I haven’t gotten anything done as far as goals go, whoops. Maybe this week will be better, ahahaha..ha… *drinks*

Ummm there was something else, but I forgot it. YOUR TURN. @ me, distract me.

Oooh! Yay for monochrome update!! I’m very excited, hope that monochrome updates are a regular part of Monday check ins. Also, I’m posting this at half-time. Seems like it will be a close one. I’m definitely rooting for Clemson. Mainly because of the Orange paw print propaganda I’ve consumed via the foxhole court, but also because I’ve been on the campus before and I haven’t forgiven Alabama for new years eve yet (I’m a Spartan). My Monday is going well. I gave myself a face mask, ate chocolates, and called home. And turned on the heat because it is SO COLD. As an update, last week’s Monday check in gave me the motivation to buckle down on studying Korean, so I’ve been doing quite a bit of that. Wish I had the characters on my device to show you. I’ll save that for next week. Go Tigers!

@millportdingo I APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT. This game has my blood pressure through the roof. There are a couple teams out there whose very uniforms are enough to raise my hackles. Alabama is one of those ((also includes UGA, USC Gamecocks, Minnesota Wild, Detroit Red Wings, etc etc…)) so having to watch an entire game against them is killing me.

Ohhh a Spartan?! Really? That’s the OSU rival, yeah? I work with a diehard OSU fan, and one of our everyday regulars has OSU jerseys for all his kids. They’re pretty uhh vocal about MSU. ((If I remember correctly!))

Literally everything you had to update us with made me happy!! I may just be in a really good mood but who cares? I have spent my week desperately attempting to fix my sleeping schedule and I believe today is the day! (hence my good mood)

I have found an EXTREMELY promising anime-the first one to give me this feeling since Steins;Gate. I’ve been searching for an anime with this kind of serious and supernatural feel for a long time and I happened upon it yesterday. If you’re interested in checking it out (please please), it’s called “Boku dake ga inai machi”, or “Erased”. It’s AMAZING and only 1 episode currently exists, so you’ll have to keep up with it (or come back for it in a few months).

Also, it snowed the day before yesterday!! First snow of 2016 and first snow of the 2015-2016 winter. I live in Kentucky so it was really a light sprinkling but with temperatures hovering at approx. 10 degrees, the snow isn’t going away and when my cat gets fresh and thinks he wants to sneak outside, I just gently set him in the snow on the porch and he runs back inside. It’s a very effective method.

Last year we got a lot of ice around here, and we don’t have the infrastructure for it– they didn’t even really salt the roads until after it’d all fallen and stopped the city. So I’m hoping we get no snow or anything whatsoever here this year.

1. Clemson vs Alabama tonight. please please please. I’m going to be wearing my neon orange hoodie in a sign of support. One day I should take a picture of it for you, because it is the same shade of ow-my-eyes bright orange I imagine the Foxes’ sweatshirts to be. I don’t think a camera can perfectly capture it, though.

2. Was talking briefly to @selurdour​ about deleting characters, which had me thinking about Marissa. Ya’ll know Marissa as Katelyn’s roommate and a cheerleader – I knew Marissa as the 11th Fox. ((surprise)) She was recruited over Christmas break and joined the Fox line-up in spring, which is how the Foxes got through several of those games when Neil was down & out. She added a balance to the striker line-up, since Kevin was brilliant and Neil was fast and she was brutal. She got removed in the final round of edits because she added nothing to the line-up but the convenience of her presence and because too much happened in TKM for me to do her character justice. She also kept getting sidelined in emotional moments because she didn’t have enough invested in the team for it to matter. The brief cameo of her as a cheerleader was the best I could offer her.

3. Monochrome is coming together as quickly & often as it falls apart, but every time it shatters it pulls together a little sturdier. We’re back to having a female MC, though – and an ace one at that. The pick-up lines you’ve collected for me are still super useful, though! I have a character who can put them to good use.

Monday after the holidays… ew. Plus I usually work more during this time of year, but I was sick all last week so… it was a rude awakening. (Especially after staying up late to read music men ;D ) I have lots of goals, but I fail at self study. Definitely want to write more (aka more than nothing), but I don’t think there’s enough hours in the day to adult as it is. Work a full day, make a healthy dinner, chores, pack a lunch, gym, hygeine, call family friends to maintain social bond… like there’s literally not enough time. How do people add kids into that mix idk.     My other thing (besides healthy gyming adultness and writing) is learning korean. My friend is a native and promised to take me there some day and somewhere along the line I fell in love with the food and entertainment and culture. The alphabet is stupid easy (you can learn in a half hour… it’s renowned for its ease and sense-making), and I got different apps to learn vocab, but haven’t found a fun interactive way to learn grammar and sentence structure so all my time spent watching korean dramas is wasted :P. And my friend is virtually useless on the learning front because he’s a bit of a poo. Anyway!! Happy 2016!

Oh, wow, Korean? I’ve heard written Korean is easy, yeah, but I feel like I’d still screw it up somewhere along the way, ha. Have you heard of the AJATT program? It’s technically “All Japanese All The Time” but some of the advice he has for learning languages – esp grammar and sentence structure, can be applied to almost anything! There’s one project in particular ((though he replaced it with a sleeker method some time later)) that’s supposed to help with sentence structure and grammar. Maybe you can adapt it for Korean? It’s not exactly fun and interactive, though.. I mean, there’s also the online diary Lang-8 if you want to try writing journal entries in Korean and getting feedback from native speakers, or finding penpals, perhaps ((do they still do penpals in this day & age idk)) Aaaa, I hope you do get to go!

Adult-ing is definitely time consuming! Parents deserve mad props for pulling it off somehow. Maybe you can steal time for writing, either by packing a week’s worth of lunches in advance or setting smaller daily goals? Good luck either way o_o

NY resolutions just weren’t my jam this year either. But I have goals to Get Art Done. I’ve been smitten with the prints of Yoshida Hiroshi lately, and hope it will spur me on in one of my projects…

The primary culprit for Latin is The Secret World, ngl. Then I read part of The Raven Cycle this fall or something and it came up again, and several of the people I’ve met on Tumblr recently seem to have at least studied it for a small amount of time? So it seems an interesting place to start this year.

Mell news: today was my first day off in a while. I spent it trying to find inspiration to draw while out in public but I ended up uninspired and spent the rest of my time out trying to find good selfie lighting. Now I’m just trying to study my German but with no one to study WITH it never feels very fruitful shrugs. Good luck with learning your Latin and programming those both seem difficult to me OMG…

Hurray for having a day off! Need a sanity break once in a while, right? Hope you found some good lighting, even if everything else wasn’t cooperating.

I feel like we have a good half-dozen languages floating around with all the Foxes, maybe we can find people with common interests or hopes and be long-distance study partners? IDK. Self-study for language can definitely be frustrating at times. What about lang-8 for extra practice? Are you studying from a textbook or a website?

Here in LA it’s raining, and is supposed to rain for the next three days! Holy shit, this is pretty high levels of excitement. I foresee a lot of tea and cat snuggling.

Ha, thanks! It sounded like a good idea in theory, now I just gotta figure out if I have the self-control to stick with it. Man, you want to trade that rain for some of our flurries? JK, just glad to hear SoCal is raining instead of on fire again. ;D Also, what do you mean tea, why tea, tea is an abomination. But def thumbs-up on the cat snuggling.

I spent most of a year in Nagoya, then divided the rest of my time between Fukuoka & Tokyo. I used to think my trip to Kyoto was the best, and I still recommend it to anyone visiting the country, but I think some of my favorite memories are wandering Kichijoji at night and listening to the street musicians play. For some reason it just made everything seem right, made it seem like anyone really could start over and do anything, be anything, live a dream.

Onsen.. none to recommend, never really went to one!
